Who: Jen Pelka
What: Owner of The Riddler, a Champagne bar with two locations, San Francisco and the newest one, which just opened it’s doors in NYC West Village earlier this month.
Jen’s of the belief, just like I am, that Champagne doesn’t always have to be saved for a “special time.” It’s ALWAYS time for Champagne. And that’s the fun thing about The Riddler that was so successful in San Fran and that will surely make it successful here. Pelka is able to bring high and low together in this place. For example, The Riddler has over 150 bottle of Champagne on their menu but ALSO they serve free popcorn all day. They have Keluga caviar on their menu but they also serve that caviar with Lays Potato Chips. You see what the vibe is here? Jen is making Michelle Obama proud here with her low-high pairings.
Speaking of Mrs. O and girl power, Pelka is ALL about that life. 100% of her investors are women and the majority of her management team are women. On top of that, The Riddler says that AT LEAST a dozen of their sparkling wines by the glass will be made by women.
I can’t wait to head to The Riddler with some girlfriends and pop some bottles and throw back some oysters.
